What is ISPO?

The Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil System (ISPO) is a Government of Indonesia policy aimed at increasing the competitiveness of Indonesian palm oil in the global market while fulfilling commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and address environmental concerns.

This certification is mandatory for palm oil plantation companies in Indonesia. Through PT Global Inspeksi Sertifikasi (Accreditation Number LSISPO-005-IDN), we ensure that your plantation operations comply with sustainability principles, including natural forest protection, fulfillment of labor rights, and social responsibility to the surrounding communities.

The Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil System (ISPO) is a Government of Indonesia policy aimed at increasing the competitiveness of Indonesian palm oil in the global market while fulfilling commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and address environmental concerns.

Presidential Regulation No. 16 of 2025 and Minister of Agriculture Regulation No. 33 of 2025 provide the main legal basis for ISPO implementation. PT Global Inspeksi Sertifikasi has obtained accreditation from KAN as one of the ISPO Certification Bodies with number LSISPO-005-IDN.

Pertanyaan Umum (FAQ)

Is ISPO Certification mandatory for all palm oil smallholders?
According to the latest Perpres No. 16/2025, ISPO is strictly mandatory for large plantation companies, and also mandatory for independent smallholders (with phased financing schemes). Non-compliance threatens operational license revocation.
What is the main advantage for a company besides avoiding government fines?
ISPO provides barrier-free export market access, especially in preparation for the EUDR (European Union Deforestation Regulation). Foreign buyers now require concrete proof (certification) that your product is deforestation-free and respects human rights.
How long is the audit process and ISPO certificate validity?
An ISPO Certificate is issued with a validity of 5 (five) years. The initial audit process generally takes 1-3 months depending on land area and document readiness. Once issued, there will be routine annual surveillance audits.
