What is CHSE Certification?
The National Standardization Agency (BSN) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy issued SNI 9042:2021 regarding Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) for Tourism Venues and Supporting Activities.
CHSE certification is a process of awarding certification to Tourism Businesses, Tourism Destinations, and other Tourism Products to provide assurance to tourists on the implementation of strict protocols. This certification dimension covers Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability, with three main criteria to be met: management or governance, HR readiness, and visitor participation.
It became very important during the pandemic era for all industries, especially tourism and accommodation, to implement health protocols. This aligns with the Ministry of Tourism’s initiative and the issuance of SNI 9042:2021 on Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) for tourism venues and supporting activities.

Business actors register and conduct a self-assessment of facility readiness according to CHSE criteria.
Document Verification
The GIS technical team reviews legality documents and evidence of established protocol procedures.
Field Audit (Verification)
Conducting direct on-site verification to assess the actual implementation of cleanliness, health, and safety standards.
Improvement & Follow-up
Business actors rectify audit findings (if any) to ensure standards are perfectly met.
